DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM - MAY 18, 2018
Gray clouds lined the sky as the threat of rain loomed over Walt Disney World, specifically on Animal Kingdom. In the Pandora area of the park, the group of Astrid Sedin, Hanna Sedin, Hailee Hughes, Jake Smith, Billy Ryder and Amanda Greene came down the path that lead from the exit of the Flight of Passage ride. Hanna seemed pretty excited as they approached the bottom.
Hanna: Can I get a banshee? I could maybe keep it at your place in California.
Astrid sighed heavily as she looked at her little sister, still unable to tell her what had gone on between her and Joshua. But Astrid pushed through, putting a forced smile on her face, and they kept walking until they stopped dead in their tracks.
Hanna: JOSH!
Astrid looks up and makes eye contact with her ex-fiance who is standing there, holding three Night Blossom drinks. A huge smile springs upon the man’s face, whether it be because of seeing his ex-fiancee or seeing her little sister is unclear. Hanna takes off running, stopping just shy of tackling Joshua to the ground as he hands her one of the drinks.
Hanna: Thank you.
Samson: You’re more than welcome, Hanna Banana.
He bends down to carefully give the pre-teen a huge hug without spilling the two other drinks he has in his hands.
Samson: So I see our plan is off to a good start. Was it hard to get Asti here?
Hanna: No… we had a fast pass anyway. I might be 12 but I know how to plan a surprise.
She turns around to see her sister surprised… eyes wide and jaw seemingly on the floor before turning back around and whispering to Joshua, “I think it worked.” Astrid slowly and cautiously makes her way over while the rest of the group stands back.
Astrid: What are you doing here? I thought you said you couldn’t make it out of California til the weekend.
Samson: Well I thought you could use a good drink…
He sheepishly holds up the novelty drinks in his hand. She takes it and looks at it.
Astrid: These are quite tasty. I see you got one for yourself too.
Samson: I remember you raving about them during one of your tangents, so it only makes sense I see what the fuss is all about.
His eyes dart about not making contact with hers, clear nervousness overcoming him.
Astrid: Be prepared… they’re tart, refreshing and highly addictive. I’ve had two so far this trip… on the first day we were in this park.
She takes a sip as she looks at him before turning to her sister.
Astrid: Why don’t you go with Hailee and them and go pick out your banshee? Joshua and I need to have a talk.
Joshua gives Hanna a thumb up as the two exchange a knowing smile. Astrid and Joshua watch as Hanna scamper away, sipping at her drink.
Astrid: Last time I saw you this nervous you emptied the contents of your stomach on live television.
He chuckles allowing his eyes to make quick contact with hers.
Samson: A lot has changed with us since that time. That seemed like an eternity ago.
Astrid: That is true… but that doesn’t explain what you’re doing here? You told me there was no possible way you could make it after I begged for a few days for you to come.
Samson: You don’t want me here? Shall I leave?
Astrid: No… that is the furthest thing from what I want. You know I want you here. For christ’s sake I poured my heart out over Twitter the other night.
Sitting the drink at the ground, Joshua reaches back up with both hands and gently cradles her face. Leaning in he plants a passionate kiss upon her lips.
Samson: I love you, Astrid.
Astrid: I love you too. And I’m sorry… I’m so very sorry for everything that I’ve said and done these past two weeks. Most of what I said was out of anger and I was upset over the fact that you didn’t want to hear what I had to say. Add in the fact I was PMSing… half of what I said wasn’t how I truly felt.
Samson: I’m sorry for blurring the line of Executive Representative and fiance. Even more sorry for behaving like a father than as your lover. I want nothing but the best for you, professionally and personally, moreso personally, Astrid, and if it means I need to step away as your Executive Representative so be it because there is no way in Hell I want to lose you in my personal life.
Astrid: I don’t want to lose you in any aspect. My work and personal lives have both flourished since you came around and I would refuse anyone other, especially Jason since I feel like he’s a bit… flibberty gibbit. I think that when it comes to me, the executive representative part comes second.
She puts a hand up to caress the side of his face.
Astrid: And yeah… treating me like a child kind of is irritating and only made the matter worse.
Samson: In the beginning I thought our age difference wasn’t going to be a factor but as time went on I have to admit it has been a cause of some of our tension. I want us, or maybe it’s just me, to get past that.
Astrid: I would like that too.
She starts to smile, sipping at the drink.
Astrid: This has hit the spot. It’s been quite humid here.
Samson: I bet it has. Looks like the rain might be coming in soon enough though.
Astrid: We’re all prepared though. I have a poncho for everyone in my backpack. Well… except for you. Are you staying? Or are you heading back to California?
Samson: I’m here for the long term. The long term, Astrid.
Reaching into his pants pocket while simultaneously bending down to one knee, Joshua produces the engagement ring the was returned to him at Anarchy.
Samson: Astrid Rona Sedin, will you marry me…again?
A slight chuckle escapes from her lips.
Astrid: You know, this is the third time you’ve done this. How could I say no?
Samson: So is that a yes?
Astrid: What do you think Joshua?
She was beaming as she kept her eye contact with him.
Astrid: Hell… to the yeah.
Smiling ear to ear, Joshua takes Astrid’s left hand and slips the ring onto her finger before standing back to his feet, pulling her into him, and kissing her once again.
Samson: I want to marry you right now.
Astrid: I really wish that could happen. But there’s the fact that you’re still legally married and I don’t think the colonel would like us eloping. And I paid a lot of money for the dress in my closet… and the stuff that goes underneath.
She winked as she kisses him again.
Samson: Of course. I’d hate not seeing you in your wedding dress and the sexiness that will be underneath it.
Astrid: Anytime after Sunday… we will be free to do that. But the colonel did want the Aulani resort in Hawaii. Well… I did and she agreed. The moment Kelli puts pen to paper and writes her name on those lines, you and I are free of her forever.
Samson: Oh…
He takes a step back looking to the ground for what seems like forever.
Astrid: What’s wrong Josh?
Bringing his attention back to her, Joshua puts back on a smile.
Samson: Nothing, baby. Nothing at all.
Astrid: Why’d you say oh? Did I say something wrong?
She puts her hand on his shoulder and gently squeezes it. He exhales deeply.
Samson: No, not at all. I...I just remembered something I needed to do before Bloodbath.
Astrid: Do you have to head back to California? Or do you just need a computer and phone? My Macbook is in my hotel room.
Samson: No, it’s nothing that can’t wait. I can take care of it when we get to Detroit. Let’s not talk about any of that though. Business is the furthest thing on my list of priorities right now. I need to make sure that you know that my business doesn’t take precedence over you.
Astrid: So you’re staying? Please tell me you’re staying.
Samson: Yes, Lil’ Bit, I’m staying.
Smiling, she put her drink down next to his and launches herself at him, wrapping her arms and legs around his torso as she cries happy tears.
Astrid: Thank you.
Samson: Anything for you. Well, almost anything.
Astrid: Well I should be mad at you for using my sister… but I can’t be because you came here. So why don’t we go rejoin the group. We’re just hanging around til our dinner reservation later.
The Anarchy General Manager Extraordinaire looks over at the assemblage and releases an audible groan.
Samson: Hmm...maybe I’ll just meet you back at your room? I’m actually a bit tired from the flight and ride over here.
Astrid: Why don’t you let me go talk to them and we can head back to the room together? That way you can take a nap and get ready for dinner.
She winks at him as he puts her down.
Samson: Us going back together and you’re talking about a nap? Yeah, right.
He smiles at her.
Astrid: Well I was trying to insinuate that a conversation would happen too. And then after you can nap and I’ll shower and get ready. We are eating at the hotel tonight.
Samson: Well go ahead and let your people know then.
Astrid: They’re OUR people and you do owe an apology to some of them. But that is a different conversation for a different day.
She kisses him on the cheek.
Astrid: I’ll be right back.
Astrid disappears into the store and comes back a few minutes later holding a box containing Hanna’s banshee.
Astrid: Hanna asked I take this back for her. Now let’s grab our drinks and head back to the hotel. I really want that conversation.
Joshua can’t help but laugh before giving Astrid another kiss. They retrieve their respective drinks and head for the park’s entrance as the scene slowly fades away.
