The Trainer, an older man in his late fifties wearing EHWF staff attire and white disposable gloves, checks Katelyn over after the assault, massive purple bruises across her back and arm. He presses into it with his thumbs and she winces through grit teeth. She rolls her neck and shifts slightly to try and lessen the discomfort she feels in this moment.
Trainer: I'm surprised that this isn't worse, Ma'am. Those were really solid shots you were hit by with that baseball bat.
KDV: I felt each hit and they did hurt, but something in me just snapped and it was almost like I didn't want to give them the satisfaction or something... kind of dumb, huh?
The trainer shakes his head.
Trainer: Not at all. Adrenaline truly is a hell of a thing, Ms. De La Vega. For some, it can make pain almost a non-issue, but the downside is that it can cause some truly nasty injuries.
She hisses as he starts feeling for signs of broken bones in the locations of her bruises.
KDV: Sssssssssttttttaaaaaaaahhh aaahhh... yeah I don't think I have adrenaline on my side anymore.
He chuckles a little.
Trainer: It does wear out really quick. I know it hurts, but I have to do this to check for anything broken. Thankfully it seems like you've suffered just deep tissue bruising. Without going for X-rays, I couldn't tell you any further. You have full motion outside of the stiffness from the bruising. It should be cleared up by next Chaos at the very least. Maybe some lingering yellow on the skin from those bruises.
KDV: Thank you for checking on it.
Trainer: I'm just doing my job.
KDV: It feels only right to thank you for your service.
He smiles and gives her non-bruised shoulder a gentle pat.
Trainer: Out of anyone who's ever been in my office, you have to be one of the most polite patients I've ever had. I'd say I hope to see you again, but that feels like wishing ill of you, so I'll just wish you well, ma'am.
She looks over her shoulder and nods to him with a small smile in return.
KDV: I will do my best. What is your name?
The Trainer tilts his head a bit, almost puzzled by the question.
Trainer: No one's ever asked me that before. I'm Ulysses.
Kate turns to face him and holds her hand out to him.
KDV: A pleasure to meet you, Ulysses.
Trainer: The pleasure's all mine.
He takes her hand with a firm shake.
KDV: I'm hopeful that Age of the Fall won't push me again. While I'll always wish for others to be successful in their profession, I wouldn't want you to be stuck with them in your office as a result of what might happen.
The Trainer has a little laugh.
Trainer: It wouldn't be the first time I've had people in my office getting the consequences of their actions taken care of and as much of a sweetheart as you are, I'd say they deserve whatever they get. Just be sure they don't find a way to land you in here for something more than bruises.
KDV: I'll try.
Kate rises from the bench, pulling the back of her top down. She gathers the Showtime championship and exits with the title on her shoulder. Ulysses then turns and gets to work cleaning his area up.
