After the end of Chaos, but before the crowd begins to leave, Remi Skyfire reemerges onto the stage. Confidence seems to radiate from Remi who is dressed in casual attire - a Muhammad Ali Roots of Fight shirt, jeans, and brown leather boots. Gone are the days of her former, softer physique; now, her lean, toned body is fully displayed. Her face, once rounder, has become angular and striking, with a subtle intensity lurking beneath her easy smile. Her eyes, bright and clear, dart around the crowd, seeming to drink in every moment. The rolled-up sleeves of her shirt reveal her impressive shoulders and biceps, muscles rippling beneath the skin of her tattooed arms.
She starts making her way to the ring, shaking hands and even stopping to take a selfie or two along the way. The damage from her run-in with Isis and Naomi earlier in the night is visible: Her right eye will probably be black by tomorrow. There’s a small cut on her forehead, but neither seems to slow her down as she slides under the bottom rope into the ring. She takes a second to take in the full crowd before asking for the mic and walking to the center of the ring.
‘Sup? Her voice is smooth and confident. Now when I was out here before I didn’t have the chance to talk to you all, and it’s way past time I should have said something. See, I know how things seem like I abandoned you all…There’s a heavy pause as a cloud of emotions crosses her face. For their part, the crowd seems to be waiting patiently for her explanation. Finally, she gives a short nod and pulls herself together. The truth is, I guess I did. She holds up a hand quickly. Not on purpose, not at all! See, I’m not terrible big on making excuses, you stand where you are and you take what you earned, but the truth of the matter is, I just wasn’t okay.
This admission seems to grab the attention of a few in the crowd who lean forward. Remi gives a subtle shake of her head and takes a long breath.
I went through…well, it was a lot. I won’t get into the specifics, other than to say I went through a mental breakdown and wasn’t any good to anyone for months. Friends and family pulled me through, and while I still have a way to go, I’m not going to let things get as bad as they were again. I’m not a doctor or anything, but I will say this: Make sure you spend as much time on your mental health as you do your physical. I know I didn’t, and, well, it didn’t go so great. Remi offers a humorless smile as her words sink in. She starts to speak a couple of times, but each time her voice breaks and instead of words she lets out a sob. The crowd begins a respectful applause with a “REMI, REMI” chant breaking out briefly. After a few seconds, she pulls herself together and holds up a hand.
I ain’t deserve that but thank you. She holds her arms wide. All of ya. Her voice drops and her smile returns. This, uhh, this ain’t really who I am. What you saw me do earlier when I came out and punched Naomi and Isis in the mouth? That’s who I am. I didn’t know Mya was gonna put me in the Chamber match, but I’m goddamn glad she did, because now I get the chance to work out whatever issues I still may have with violence, plus, who knows, maybe ya girl Remi brings home the gold one more time. She shrugs. Maybe, just maybe I claw my way back to the top and this time…well, this time I’ll be around to stay. Remi holds up her hand and offers a bright smile. That’s it, I’m done…but I’m not finished, not by a damn long shot. I’m Remi Skyfire, I’m the Blackheart…and I’m back.
With that she drops the mic and rolls out of the ring as her music hits. She spends time at ringside with the fans before finally making her way back up the ramp and behind the curtain.
