February 14, 2014 Fayetteville, Arkansas Bud Walton Arena - Backstage
Mayhem was done for the evening. David GS sat in the corner of the locker room he had been afforded, still wearing his ring gear, with a wet towel draped over his head. The door was slightly ajar - he had not bothered closing it behind him, taking for granted that after what had happened during and after his tag team match, any member of EHWF staff with more than two brain cells to rub together would know better than to bother him. Amidst the din of technicians and maintenance workers packing everything up, however, he heard a distinct set of footsteps approach the door to his locker room, followed by the slow creak of the hinges as the door itself was eased open. Clearly, he had not accounted for everyone.
Tilting his head to one side, David peered out from beneath the towel atop his head, affixing the visitor with a one-eyed gaze.
David: ... you.
He returned his head to its natural position, letting the towel obscure his vision once more.
David: Why are you here?

To David's surprise, Raymond LaPointe stepped into the locker room. Raymond smirked at David who was just sitting there in deep thought with the towel over his head.
Raymond LaPointe: Did you hear the news? We're both going to be in the Meltdown Chamber Match!
David shrugs it off as if it wasn't anything special.
Raymond LaPointe: I'm here for a reason, David. It's simple, for the beginning of this match we join forces and take out the scum. Give the fans what they truly want to see. I have been itching for a way to get back into the ring with you after that tough loss, let's make it happen.
Raymond stands there, still with a smirk on his face.

David was silent for a time. When he finally did speak, his normally monotonous tone of voice was tinged with just a hint of amusement, though the towel continued to hide his facial expression.
David: You coming here... asking this of me... it presents two possibilities as to your motive. On the one hand, you may be lying to me. This temporary olive branch may be a ploy, meant to lull me into a false sense of security during the match, at which point you will attempt to stab me in the back and eliminate me. That, at least, would make sense, given how decisively I defeated you in our last encounter. I wouldn't try a head-on approach after taking a beating like that, either.
He tilted his head again, looking up at LaPointe from beneath the towel and seeing that the smirk on his face had vanished.
David: On the other hand... you may be genuine. You may truly believe everything you say and imply - that the fans want to see me put you through the wringer again, that you don't deserve to be counted among those you refer to as "scum", and that, if it were to come down to just you and I in there, the outcome would be different than last time. If that is the case...
He returned his gaze to the floor.
David: Then my initial impression of you was wrong - you're not a lying, dishonest, and utterly insincere rat. Just a stupid one.
TBC: LaPointe

The smirk left my face as I looked at David who was hiding behind a towel. I leaned backwards up against the wall as I shut the door behind me. I place my foot against the wall as well, keeping me positioned comfortably. I gazed at David.
Raymond LaPointe: You are right, you defeated me during our last dance.
The smirk left my face as I looked at David who was hiding behind a towel. I leaned backwards up against the wall as I shut the door behind me. I place my foot against the wall as well, keeping me positioned comfortably. I gazed at David.
Raymond LaPointe: You are also wrong, though. The fact of the matter is, I know for a fact that we are the two best men in this match. I'm not looking to stab you in the back during the match... David, I'm looking to meet you face to face at the end and prove your true worth.
I looked at David one last time before I re-opened the door and began to exit. As I was leaving another man began to enter.
Raymond LaPointe: Good luck with this guy..
I chuckled as I left, knowing who just entered the room.
TBC: Anybody Else

Blaise narrowed her eyes as she entered the room at LaPointe. What exactly did that mean? The diva meant no trouble. She never did. LaPointe gave her the creeps. She was quite glad that he was leaving just as soon as she was arriving. She had a couple of words she wanted to share with DGS. They hadn't had the chance to really get acquainted. They kind of got started off on a bad foot when he first came in, so it would be interesting to see how this conversation played out.
BLAISE: Oh DGS.. I've been meaning to come speak to you. I'm a real big fan despite past comments that I might have made, but that was just a simple misunderstanding and as two grown adults I'm sure we can get past it. [She grins as she approaches him.] I just came to see how you were doing after Mayhem. It's a real shame that you were teamed with such a inept superstar who clearly isn't at the same level as someone like you.
She commented on Scott Wilson. Blaise didn't think too highly of him and never failed to express that. As she made this comment Blaise reached up and ran her hand through DGS's golden locks for a small moment before stopping and looking at him with that same grin.
BLAISE: We can't win them all though. I can totally sympathize with your position and I just wanted to say that it's okay. We all knew about the hot streak Mercury was on and you just got unlucky. This weekend at Meltdown you probably will get unlucky once again, but what can you do? [She shrugs.] I can at least see you being one of the last man's standing on the bright side! Now you'd be pretty much the first to lose, but it's pretty good right? Beggars can't be choosers.
Her face brightened up as she tapped him shoulder with that comment in attempts of lightening the mood. When in reality the two knew that it wasn't exactly Blaise's intentions.

David rose to his feet and pulled the wet towel off his head, watching LaPointe exit his locker room even as Blaise entered. He remained silent as the Hardcore Champion approached and spoke to him, but when she reached up to run her fingers through his hair he tensed slightly. It was an oddly personal gesture, given that this was their first face-to-face encounter, and yet... he let out the breath he'd been holding, sighing gently as her fingers grazed his scalp. It had been over a year since a woman had last laid hands on him, and that woman was long-dead.
Blaise's next words, however, dragged him abruptly back into reality. His eyes narrowed at her thinly-veiled doublespeak, and when she tapped him on the shoulder he eyed the offending hand with disdain, mentally kicking himself for allowing her to run her fingers through his hair earlier. She was messing with him - or trying to, anyway.
David: Blaise...
He locked his eyes onto hers.
David: The technical loss I suffered this evening? All it proved was that if you want something done right, you must do it yourself. Fortunately, I won't be burdened with a partner in the Meltdown Chamber, which is bad news for Ryan Mercury... and everyone else. Now...
He echoed her earlier breach of his personal space by bringing their faces to within centimeters of each other, his nose nearly touching hers, his dull bluish-gray eyes still staring unblinkingly into her brighter indigo ones.
David: You are one of the few in this place I have any measure of respect for, so I'm going to ask nicely: whatever your reasons are for coming here, whatever it is you're driving at, please - get to the point. I have neither the time nor the patience for whatever game you're trying to play.

BLAISE: What's the matter, Dave? Do I make you nervous? Uncomfortable?
The champion teased as she leaned closer to his ear with a small whisper after he took a long gaze into her eyes, which only amused her. She could sense his change in demeanor when she brushed her hands in his hair. She decided to go a bit further with it. What's the worse that could happen? DGS didn't seem like a guy to be too harsh. Blaise leaaned back from his air and faced him once more, not taking a step back to distance herself from the large man.
BLAISE: I just simply wanted to have a couple of works with one my colleagues. Is that so wrong? Excuse me for trying to be a little sociable for once. It's a normal thing to do, you should try it out sometimes instead of pushing everyone away. Trust me when I say that's the last thing you want to do because in this kind of business you want people to like you. Especially very important people, do you catch my drift? Because they can get you places and let's face it you haven't gone anywhere since your "big" return. [This time Blaise ran a hand through her hair with a small chuckle.] So you don't you dare stand there and say you don't have time for me as if you're bigger or above me.
TBC: DGS.

David's teeth ground together behind his lips. She was enjoying herself, getting off on pushing his buttons.
David: I...
He stopped, briefly closing his eyes and leaning back as Blaise had done, taking a moment to ensure he still had his composure. When he opened them again, he regarded Blaise with the calm, practiced reserve he saved for those he'd deemed worthy of respect... which in the EHWF, unfortunately, meant almost no one.
David: I said nothing of the sort - in fact, I have more time for you than I have for most. As far as competition goes, you are a rare bright spot in the unending night that plagues this company. You display a more nuanced understanding of this sport than just about anyone else in the EHWF today - present company excluded - and truth be told, I'd much rather be facing you in the Meltdown Chamber than the likes of Ryan Mercury, Casey Bond, or Quinton Hughes. However...
His eyes narrowed.
David: I also have some idea of how you operate. I've heard and seen enough of you to know that you do not do or say anything - anything - without having a damned good reason for it. If what I said offended you then I apologize, but I'm not so stupid as to think you're here out of the goodness of your heart - to try and get me, of all people, to socialize - and nothing else.
Folding his arms over his exposed chest, David began walking. Holding Blaise's eyes the whole way, he slowly circled around behind her, positioning himself between her and the door.
David: You're here because you want something. All I ask is that you stop beating around the bush...
He leaned over her shoulder, murmuring into her ear the way she had murmured into his.
David: ... and tell me what it is.

As he slowly circled around her Blaise remaining facing forward with an annoyed look on her face. David was making it so hard for Blaise to get under his skin. Just one she thought she had him he would close his eyes and compose himself. It was absolutely ridiclous. How was it possible for someone to just be so kind about everything? After all she said he would respond with nice comments about how highly he thought of Blaise instead of what she was hoping for. It was getting on her last nerve. What would it take for him to snap..
BLAISE: You just always know the right thing to say, don't you? You always find a way to give a calm, cool, and collected response that will avoid you any trouble. You're so good and quick with your words. I don't know how you do it, but we're all human and I think even you can lose it sometimes. How? I'll find out soon enough. [She chuckle slowly as she slowly turned around to face him.] What exactly could I want from something like you?
She paused as she eyed him up and down, almost as if she was sizing him up. Blaise wanted him to feel uncomfortable.
BLAISE: You don't exactly have much to offer, sweetie. You should have listened to your Mom when she taught you growing up to not listen to what everyone says. I'm not that bad. I'm capable of having normal conversations without ulterior motives.
Blaise smirked, knowing that it wasn't true as she slowly walked by him. Being sure to brush his shoulder on her way out as she looked him in the eyes.

David kept his gaze fixed on Blaise as she left his locker room, head turning slowly, eyes tracking every step, every swing of the arms, every sway of the hips.
David: If I had nothing to offer - nothing you wanted - you wouldn't have taken the time to walk through my door. When you decide to give me a straight answer... you'll know where to find me.
Then she was gone, and he was alone once more. After a few moments of staring at the empty doorway, he turned and went over to the locker that held his things, beginning to remove his wrist tape and elbow pads as he did so.
