(Just a small CD RP. I was bored and wanted to show you guys a little taste of what Champ's story is going to be about. I think those who already know my character know that this is way different from Champ in the ECWF. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy and that this gets you a little excited for the future. The REALITY baby!)
I gave pause to my dilemma. My lips bore no smile, nor any laugh escaped my dry throat. I was both livid and glad…but confusion was the emotion of the hour. I look at my fleshy fingers, cementing my mortal thoughts. An unwelcome guest enters my presence and the world goes wrong again.
Roman Quartz: James…James, James, James…When are you ever going to learn? You know you would be nothing without me, without Roman…without your father, James? Did you read your lines today like a good son?
I nodded in agreement. The empty bead bag and my stinging nostril stood testament to my actions. My head spun, blurring the lines between good and evil.
Roman Quartz: Listen to me, James. You were a champion and a legend in your own rights…but what are you now? Where would you be if not for your father? I gave rebirth to you, James, like any real, caring father would. You know, for someone who likes to give a verbal spanking to his own “brother”, you sure haven’t done anything prolific with your life since you left the ECWF. You were at the tippy top, James, and then you left…and who found you, bleeding like a dying animal in the dirt? Who gave you new life and burdened you with a glorious purpose?
I looked the devil in the eyes and whispered very quietly.
James Champ: You did…
The devil’s eyes snared, awaiting the end of the idiom.
James Champ: …father.
A gritty smile spread across Roman’s wicked face and etched the image evermore in to my reservoir of nightmares.
Roman Quartz: And don’t you ever forget, my son. I will always be there for you, even when you cannot be there for yourself. I will always stand up for you. I will make sure you are very well taken care of…because all fathers love their children, James.
A single tear rolled down my scarred cheek. Roman turned and headed towards the door, but not before ensnaring my scarred will once more.
Roman Quartz: I love you, son.
James Champ: I love you too, father.
Roman smiled again, this time much gentler than before.
My father.
My only family.
