As the masses around the world log onto their computers and turn on their televisons, turning their attention to EHWF.com and the EHWF Network, waiting to hear something about the next Mayhem coming up or anything else EHWF related, they are greeted by the sight of a new video. The time stamp on the video says that it was done at 12:01AM Central Standard time on Monday, April 27th 2015. But it's the title of the video that draws everyone in to watch it.... "A message... from the champ...."
The video begins to play and shows an empty arena, the arena used for that night's EHWF PPV, Retribution. The chairs are long gone now, most of the ringside features like the commentators table, the ringkeepers area, and whatnot are long gone now, but what remains in this arena is the ring.
The mat, still covered in blood from the final encounter of the night, the ropes, loosened at this point but not taken down yet, both still there. The ring skirt as it's called is long gone now, everything underneath the ring is gone as well. It's just the basics of the ring left standing at this point in time. And as those viewing the video begin to wonder why the ring is still up seeing as how the house show on Monday night is in Pittsburgh, not Philadelphia, that's when their attention turns to the two figures in the ring.
The one who's standing is recognized instantly as Ashley Danyell, still wearing the same attire she was seen wearing at the end of Retribution when she came out to the ring. The other who's on their knees isn't recognized immediately due to the black hooded sweatshirt they were wearing with the hood up over their head, but it was pretty obvious who it had to be. And as the person slowly lifted the hood up over their face, leaving it remaining on top of their head but exposing their face to be seen, everyone's assumptions were proven correct when it was revealed to be none other then... David Arnold...
His head was bandaged up again, but his face was still covered in the blood spilled during the battle with David Gideon Smith, although it was dried onto his face at this point. He was no longer sweating or exhausted from the match itself, but the effects of it and what happened afterwards were clearly seen...
I come to you right now just an hour after EHWF's Retribution PPV came to an end with a message for the EHWF universe. I have a couple of points to make, then I will leave you all back to wondering about whatever other story you're following around here.
Point number 1. As you all witnessed, David Arnold defeated David Gideon Smith in the middle of this ring to become the new EHWF World champion...
It's at this point that he slowly unzips the hoodie to show the EHWF World championship belt wrapped around his waist.
It was quite honestly an epic and brutal encounter that could have easily gone either way. Both of us gave it everything we had on this night and in the end, I emerged victorious. That by no means however signifies that I am better then David Gideon Smith. I was simply just the better man on this night.
If this happens to be Mr. Smith's final EHWF match ever, then I wish him all the best in his future endeveaors and know that no matter where he goes or what he does, he will always have a home here in the EHWF. If this is simply just his final match for the time being, then I look forward to his return.
Point number 2. I told the world that if I was to become the new EHWF World champion here tonight, I would give the belt up due to the reasoning as to why I was given the title shot. The EHWF management and DGS himself knew that he was leaving and I didn't want to be given the title because of that reason. And although it became apparently clear here tonight that DGS wanted to do everything it took to take the championship belt home with him, the fact remains that I said I was going to vacate it if I won it....
However, that leads me to point number 3. Ryan Morgan. The man who made his return to the EHWF here tonight, declaring his intentions to become the new EHWF champion. Which I was fine with. He, like everyone else on the roster, wants to hold the championship that is now in my possession.
But instead of waiting for a title shot, instead of waiting to fight the champion on a more even playing field and fair stage, he decided to come down after the biggest win of my EHWF career and attack me, picking at the bloody and battered carcass that DGS had almost torn to pieces during the battle itself. Instead of being a man and waiting until a better time to come after me, he decided to make his message heard by furthering the damage already done by someone before him. So EHWF universe...
He reaches around and unhooks the championship belt from around his waist, then holds it in his hands for a few moments, staring at it. He starts to lower the belt to the mat, as if to lay the championshp belt on it and leave... but then places the belt on his shoulder and gets to his feet as Ashley smiles.
Your new leader, the new EHWF champion, will not be following through on what he said yesterday morning because of one simple reason.
People have come along over the years and tried to either become the EHWF champion or try to prove themselves as a dominant champion deserving of the belt only to fail. Time and time again. And those people have failed. Whether they were people with short reigns like Mazzio, Silver Kazama, James Champ, Blaise, and others or whether they were people who to this day have not held this championship belt yet like Ryan Morgan, Connor Creed, Tyler Gates, Scott Wilson, and others, they have all come and tried. And to this point, they've failed.
David Gideon Smith was one of the legendary holders of this championship, a man who's title reigns meant something, a man who dominated during his time as champion. Yet now he's leaving. For however long no one knows, but he's leaving nonetheless. There's no Black Man here, no Sah'ta Thor, no other dominant champions from the past.
So now the EHWF championship needs a new dominant holder. One who can sit on the throne and defend it against those who would do the throne and the championship harm instead of good. One who can show up night in and night out and prove that no matter how many pretenders come up the hill, they will all go rolling back down it. In a way DGS passed on the torch to David Arnold because he knew that, even though he'd never admit it, David Arnold could be one of those dominant EHWF World champions.
So this final part goes out to the entire EHWF roster, active or not, male or female, former champion or not, no matter who you are. David Arnold will go down in history as one of the best EHWF World champions ever. And he will live up to the legacy left before him by those who deserved to be known as EHWF's best. So Ryan Morgan may be first, but for anyone else who wants to follow, know this.
This is now my throne. My championship. DGS had to pretty much kill me to keep me from it and look what happened anyway. So imagine what you're going to have to do to take it from me....
And with that, David just stares into the camera, the EHWF championship belt sitting on his shoulder, Ashley standing by his side, a force that if not before was definitely now one to not be messed with...
