Lesson Learned
Backstage @ Sudden Death
Sunday January 24, 2015
Melbourne, Australia
During the Main Event
After the shocking aftermath of the EHWF Tag Team Title match we see a sombre looking Arron Frederick Hudson walking through the back of the arena. With him was Kyuubi and a pair of the albino warriors. As the group pass through the halls most of the backstage personnel go out of their way to avoid them. However, one brave soul dares to approach them.
"Excuse me, I am Nick Martin with EHWF.com. I have a few questions for you Mr. Hudson."
The group stops and look at the young man for a minute before Aaron nods silently.
"Sure thing kid. I have a minute minutes."
"Thank you, Sir. First things first, why did you betray your mentor tonight?"
Aaron just chuckles in amusement for a few seconds.
"I Love how people already think that what happened tonight was the result of a betrayal. What many of you need to understand is that Nathaniel Grant and I have known each other since my father died. That was almost seven years ago. In that time he has taught me a lot about life and the wrestling business. Yet, there comes a time when every student has to become a master in their own right. What you saw tonight was the final step of my transition down that path. It has finally become my time to become a Master of this craft. Tonight I used my mentor to send a message to the rest of the roster. I am here to stay. I am the future and soon enough everyone will know it. What people will label as a betrayal is nothing more than a student showing that he head learned his teacher's most important lesson."
Nick looks at Aaron in confusion for a minute before taking a deep breath.
"You say that tonight shows that you have learned the most important lesson your mentor could teach. What lesson is that that?"
"That is simple Nick. The lesson to be learned here is that you can only trust in yourself to be successful in this world. At the end of the day it doesn't matter who your allies are because you will have to be the one who does all the work. The bottom line is that tonight I showed the world that I am in control of my career."
Aaron falls silent for a moment as he stares at Nick intently. The silence stretches until finally Nick chokes out another question.
"Now that you have sent your message to the EHWF roster do you have any regrets?
"Only two.The first is that I wasn't able to move forward with this this on a bigger stage. The second is that no one else respects my talent. Well after tonight, I will force them to respect me."
The last words were spoken with a chilling certainty. The certainty in the tone causes Nick to step back a few feet.
"I see. One last question, tonight you revealed that you were the new number one contender for the EHWF Hardcore Title. That now rests in the hands of Savannah. Do you have comments about the new Champion?"
"Congratulations are in order to the new champion. Having said that, I will assure you right now that when we meet I will take that title. Savannah should know from our sparring sessions that I will not pull any punches when it comes to our match. There will be blood and carnage when we square off. There will be nothing pretty about our clash but that won't matter. So I hope Savannah enjoys her time as the Hardcore Champion because it will end shortly."
Aaron looks over at Kyuubi then back to Nick.
"Now I must be going Nick. I have business to attend to that can't be postponed any longer.
Damage Report
Melbourne Hospital
Monday January 26, 2015
Melbourne. Australlia
3:50 PM Local Time
Aaron had been waiting to get in to see his long time mentor for hours. Yet, the initial report on the damage done during the attack was even worse than he had intended it to be. Though what many didn't know or even suspect was the detail that Nathaniel Grant had sanctioned his own beat down. All off this had been going on in Aaron's mind for the last several hours.
"Mr. Hudson, if you would come right this way."
The nurse's words cause Aaron to look up from his thoughts with a start. After a moment to gather his thoughts Aaron stands up. As he walks over to the nurse he notices one of the hospital security guards watching his every move intently.
"What can you tell me about my father-in-law's condition?"
The nurse leads him to off to the side so the pair could talk.
"Mr. Hudson, your father-in-law has been placed in a medically induced coma so his internal organs can heal from the mass bruising they suffered. His right arm was broken in two places, a total of seven ribs were shattered, his left lung was punctured in three spots and his skull received several hairline fractures."
The list of damage that had been inflicted to Aaron's mentor was sobering but in the end would serve to further the impact of the message he was intending to send. It was a message to the rest of the world that he was not a man to take lightly. With a bit of concern Aaron asks one more set of questions.
"What about his pelvis and neck? Have either of the been checked?"
"I would have to look at the charts but I know that the Doctor was worried about something. You will be able to find out more from her later on."
Aaron sighs slightly then takes a deep breath. He had done what had needed to be done to move his career forward. Yet, that didn't mean that he had to enjoy some of the actions that he had committed to do so. The nurse leads him to a room in the intensive care unit that had a security guard standing outside of it.
"Enjoy your visit Mr. Hudson. I will have the doctor come by to speak with you shortly."
Aaron nods his thanks and slowly enters the room. Inside was a barely moving Nathaniel Grant. His right arm had been placed into a cast and had several IV tubes going into his left. At first it looked like the older man was dead until you noticed the faint rise and fall of his breathing.
"You old bastard don't die on us. I hope that one day you will learn to forgive me. When you look back on this I hope you will be able to see that my actions were not a betrayal. Instead I hope you see that they were the acceptance of the last lesson you wanted me to learn. By the time you wake up and are able to go home I will be married to Lu Chen. So Pops don't take to long to heal up because I need your wisdom."
With those words Aaron falls silent. There wasn't much left to voice while Nathaniel lay in a drug induced sleep. After falling silent Aaron bows his head and seems to fall into a silent prayer. This is how the Nathaniel's treating doctor found him nearly twenty minutes later.
"Mr. Hudson, I am Dr. Sandra Lee and I am in charge of making sure that your father-in-law receives the best care possible. But, I have to tell you that even after he leaves the hospital he will never be the same. I will honestly be surprised if he is not paralyzed."
"What do you mean?"
"Simply put, in addition to the skull fractures your father-in-law rebroke his neck. Something appears to have happened at least twice in the last decade. I won't know the full extent of the damaged until after we can safely left him out of his coma. Though I ask some more details about what caused his injuries."
Aaron looks away then slowly takes a deep breath.
"Did you happen to record EHWF's Sudden Death event or watch it first hand?"
"No, but I can get a copy if it will explain what happened to leave your father-in-law in such a state."
Aaron nods slowly then rises to his feet from the chair he had been sitting in. As he walks towards the door he replies to Dr. Lee's comment.
"It would. Thank you for caring for him. Also thank you for telling me how bad his condition really is. If you need anything let me know. However, if I ever find out that you cut any corners with his treatment I will personally see to your flaying."
With that Aaron walks out of the room before his words can be responded to. The guard follows him out as Aaron exits the hospital. As he leaves he can't help but feel like he had become a monster. Yet, in the end the amount of damage would actually help to convey the proper amount message. As he crosses the parking lot to his rental car Aaron pulls out his cell phone.
"Listen Lu, we may have went overboard last night. Your father may not ever walk again. I got the impression than his career is over."
There is a response to which Aaron sighs.
"I know that but we didn't set out to destroy him permanently."
The rest of the conversation is cut off by Aaron getting into his car and driving off.

The last couple of days had been a whirlwind of phone calls and travel. Yet, for Aaron it had been a period of time during which he had begun to second guess his actions at Sudden Death. Though truthfully Aaron knew that the internal battle he was having would continue for quite some time. For now though he had to think about his future as both a brand new husband and as a wrestler.
"Aaron, you have been more reflective than normal lately. What is on your mind?"
"I am simply wondering if we went too far Lu. We both know what damage we caused to your father. I just can't help but wonder if it was worth it. I have known him for longer than you have know he was your father. Hell when he met me I was about to have my brains blown out."
"I know that Aaron, but you know how the rest of the EHWF saw you. They all though you were some sort of puppet. Sudden Death changed that perception. We will just need to death with the aftermath."
The pair stay silent as Aaron thinks of an appropriate response. He had yet to speak with most of his friends since Sudden Death and wasn't sure how they would react to him.
"I know, but did we have to do as much damage to him as we did? Not that it can be changed now. We now have to figure out what the future of Insidious is."
"Why not turn it into the Embassy?
The question causes Aaron to smirk slightly. It was an idea that held some merit. After all, it would allow him to tweak his on screen image in a way that would reveal more of his true personality. It would also serve as a way to reveal more of his connection to the underworld.
"It has potential and could get more people to actually be open to speaking with me."
Aaron falls silent for a moment.
"Aaron let's be honest, from now on if they aren't with us they are against us. After all if people won't respect us they will learn to fear us."

There had been no change in the condition of the man Aaron had put into the hospital bed four months earlier. Sure the bones had healed and the coma he had been put under had been lifted but the former wrestling champion was still out of it. In the months since Sudden Death Aaron had lived the attack over and over again in his mind. Since the injuries had been serious enough to end the career of a man Aaron had looked up to as a his mentor there had been much regret. As Aaron sat there watching the slow rhythmic breathing of his teacher and friend a deep sadness threatens to overwhelm him. The fact that he had been responsible for Nathaniel Grant's current condition only deepened the sadness. Yet, for all of that Aaron had been faithfully visiting the man every week.
"Mr. Hudson, there has been no change in his brain waves since you were last here."
"What about his muscle atrophy?
"We have been electronically stimulation his muscles to maintain their definition. However, there is no guarantee that his joints and ligaments will be up to the task of moving when he wakes up."
Aaron sighs slightly as he hears this news. He hadn't expected anything else but had hoped for something different.
"Is there anything we can do to get him back to the land of the living?"
"I don't know of anything other than waiting for him to wake up."
There is silence as Aaron just nods slightly while the nurse leaves the room. After a few minutes Aaron stands up and leaves the room himself.
"I am sorry Nathaniel."
