Occupying a window booth at a local diner, taking full advantage of the special on the menu - 2 donuts and a coffee for $3.95 - was Edward Fine. Casually sipping from the steaming coffee mug before him as he awaited the arrival of his guest. Spotting him through the window, he retires the mug to its prior position, beside the half eaten donut mere inches from the table’s center. Upon standing Fine adjusts his blazer extending the invitation for him to sit across from him then sits himself.
"Afternoon. I’m happy to see you’ve accepted my invitation to meet. I wouldn’t bother ordering as I have every intention on making this as brief as possible." Fine reaches for the coat folded beside of him in the booth, retrieving the envelope from the inside pocket. Placing it on the table. "I, uh, thought it best that I handle this in person. I called this meeting because I have been made aware of your unabating attempts in contacting my client and I want the madness to cease. No more procuring gifts or threatening letters -- this ends today, Mr. Samson."

"So you decided that it was best to handle it in person, Eddie?"
The Samson Family Executive Representative adjusts himself in the seat, scanning the objects on the table, before resting his gaze upon the manager of Brooklyn.
"Before you leave let's make it clear, Eddie. I never attempted anything nefarious when it came to recruiting Brooklyn. I've always respected your position to your client and made it an expressed point to have always deal with you. I made it no secret to you that I wanted Brooklyn as one of the Samson Family. And when my two offers were denied, or simply ignored, I even extended the offer to you to join, Eddie."

"You? Offer me a position in your..", he chuckles absurdly reaching for the handle attached to the side of his mug, "quote-unquote 'family'? I won't pretend to understand the relationship between you and that group of egotistical bandits you've managed to round up, because it's not my place; but make no mistake about it, Brooklyn is my family. He has my back and I have his in spite of it all. I highly doubt there is anything you can offer us that trumps the loyalty we already have in each other."

"I'm not about wedging myself in between you and Brooklyn, Eddie. Like I said, I respect your position as a manager. I mean, there has to be some honor amongst thieves, right?"
With a raised eyebrow, Samson glares at Fine.
"Have you even told Brooklyn about my offer to you both?"

"Of course not. Brooklyn is under the impression that you are this guy that could take him to heights unforeseen, informing him of any of the sort would be foolish on my part. I'd be practically handing one of Mayhem's biggest and brightest over to you." Fine blew over the hot mug prior to ingesting the steaming cup of black coffee. His tongue swipes across his upper lip mopping any remaining residue, and places it back on the table in front of him. "Perhaps I did prejudge you in the beginning; but the way you came off was like -- well, like a thief. But I've just got to know, why was it so important for you to have Brooklyn and I as allies when you no longer have any ties to Mayhem?"

"My ties are to the wrestling business, Eddie. First and foremost, I am an executive representative so I am ALWAYS on the lookout for talent that will push everyone's career involved to the stratosphere. Brooklyn, along with you, are one of those talents. Together the three of us can reach heights never reached in EHWF."
He sits forward, leaning closer to the table, resting his elbows on the table.
"But I'm not trying to give you the recruiting speech because you know it as well as I know it. As a businessman, you've weighed out the options through and through because if not we wouldn't finally be sitting here. Disregard my position as Anarchy General Manager Extraordinaire, Eddie, but concentrate on what we, Brooklyn, you, and me, can do as a solidified force on Mayhem."

Edward Fine leaning closer toward the table, his fingers interlocked for a bridging close before him, responds. "Let me tell you a little something about me Mr. Samson, I'm not a man who likes to take risks. All of my decisions are based on numbers -- logic -- FACTS. And based off of what I've seen and heard about you, you have a failed promotion under your belt, a personal riff with one of the most powerful figures in the EHWF, and this boundless desire for absolute power that dictates your conscience -- or lack thereof. Why would I want to risk the well being of my client by getting involved in anything with your name on it; for these 'unimaginable heights' you speak of - in very little detail - at that?" A hint of a smirk plays within the corner of Fine's mouth; a slight sigh nicks his bottom lip prior to continuing. "I need assurance. I need facts and I need to be able to trust the man I'm going into business with." Fine takes another pause in dialogue, his mind delving further into thought -- dreams of all he'd imagined for Brooklyn; and if Samson was on the up and up, perhaps he could produce aid in Brooklyn getting there. "I want to see Brooklyn as the EHWF Champion with endorsement deals, merchandise on every shelf, book deals, movie deals, a six figure salary -- the whole nine yards! And if you can't promise me that, then we can adjourn this meeting here and now."

Samson strokes down his stubbled cheeks and chin.
"I can indeed promise those opportunities. Opportunities that certain persons in EHWF have been selfish with distributing evenly. Only by combining forces will we be able to wrestle those opportunities...those chances from the select few."
"What more assurances could you possibly need that are not staring you in the face? Whether hated or loved, anything associated with the Samson Family increases in stock tenfold. And I'm not just talking in EHWF either, Eddie. My representation extends far outside the walls of Mikey's company and into the wrestling world. But you let me know what facts you need and I'll gladly provide them."
With a salesmen's style smirk, Samson looks at Fine.
"Oh and for the record, Eddie, my man, I have never, EVER, failed at anything I have done in life. So before you commence to taking gossip and hearsay as gospel, you might want to do a little research or at the most come and ask me.

Bill Ryder and Astrid, both members of the Samson Family, were among the bigger names in the EHWF. Fine couldn't argue with those facts. Reclining back into his side of the booth, Fine a smirk on his face, took the bait. "Sounds fair," he started with a slight shrug of the shoulders, "so why did your company go under?"

"What company are you talking about?"The movement of the business' door swinging open draws his attention. Apparently nothing noteworthy, Samson peers at his Bulgari Assioma watch before returning his attention back to Fine.
"Oh you mean Underground Zero Wrestling? Eddie, you really should do your homework. I've never been an owner of UGZ. When I came to EHWF it was as an emissary for the three owners of UGZ who were looking to partner with Mikey. I suppose public misconception skewed my position over the months but I've never put myself across as owning UGZ. But like most things in the free world, it is only a Google search away."

"I'm old school. I don't rely on new age technology to inform me of things that I -- like you said, could come and find out from the source." Fine takes his mug by the handle, gently swiveling it in a circular motion to further blend the sugars and coffee grounds inside. "It seems that I've had you all wrong. Perhaps it was your arrogance that led me to believe you were a bigger player for...UGZ, was it, than you actually were...no disrespect. My ill conceived thoughts on you have proven to be nothing more than a worried man's insecurities, for that I apologize. If you still wish to enlist Brooklyn and I as allies to your cause, then you have us."

"Finally..."
A Cheshire cat smile formed upon the stubbled haired face of the Executive Representative.
"Goddamn, Eddie! I'm glad we finally could close the deal. Welcome to the Samson Family. Consider this..."
Samson pushes the envelope that Fine had placed on the table earlier over to his new partner.
"...a signing bonus."

Not giving it a second thought, Edward Fine graciously took the envelope, placing it in the breast pocket of his blazer, and stood to take his leave; first shooting a soft understanding smile to his new business partner.
Fin.
