I wanted to make a thread that involved horror movies, and a place people can suggest movies to other members here. I remember the first time watching John Carpenter's Halloween with my Father, back when I was four or five years old. I became obsessed over Horror flicks since discovering Halloween, as I literally watched, bought, or paid for a movie ticket, so I could watch a particular horror movie. If there's a horror movie out there that you recommend, please feel free to share it on here. I went to the movies last Sunday evening to catch the new IT remake. I'll post a small personal review on my thoughts about the movie shortly. I won't post any spoilers about the film just in case someone on here had plans on going to see it. From time to time, whenever I catch something new and worth reviewing or recommending, I will post it on this forum for all of you to read.

IT (2017 Remake)
I didn't know what to expect going into this one, since 90% of the remakes I watched didn't live up to the original. Coming from someone who read the book and watched the original 1990 movie, I went into this movie open minded and was totally blown away by this movie. Andy Mushietti really did stay true to the book, which is something that the original movie couldn't due, since it was filmed to be a television mini series, so the film was limited when it was rated TV-14. The first thing I noticed about this film was how well they developed the characters throughout the movie. I actually felt connected to the children in this movie and couldn't believe how well these kids pulled off their roles. Watching this film as an adult really helped me understand what these kids were experiencing at the time. The kids really made this movie worth watching, as they were both comical, and believable as victims. The kids in It swear, make fun of each other, get into fights, and have complex (even romantic) emotions towards one another that seems to have been lost in modern cinema for decades. Despite this film being rated R and containing graphic violence, and sexual situations. This is the realistic take on children or as we’ve come to know them recently, tweens.
If this movie wanted to succeed the original, then the actor playing Pennywise The Clown needed to be special in this film. Bill Skarsgard by far had the biggest shoes to fill in replacing Tim Curry as Pennywise, but let me be the first to tell you, he fucking nailed it. He brought a version of Pennywise that was perfect for this film, as he gave the fans something this film desperately needed, change. A lot of times when people remake a movie, they make the mistake of keeping the villain of their movie extremely similar to the original, and as a fan that's something you don't want to see. Bill Skarsgard vision of Pennywise was not only terrifying, but it was much different not only to the original, but from anything I had ever seen before. His look was almost like this demonic, doll-like, clown that clearly has been feeding off the children in Derry for centuries. There was just something about his voice, and the way his eyes were slightly different from each other that made him even more creepy. He would even drool at times during certain parts of the film, that really added to the creepiness of the character.
In the end, this turned out to be a fantastic film that I really enjoyed watching. It's not only my favorite horror remake, but easily one of my favorite films of all time. I would recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen IT.
Overall Rating. 9/10

Happy Death Day
A typical slasher movie that was quite slow and drawn out for no apparent reason...though it isn't portrayed as a comedy in the trailers it definitely is a comedy...I'd only recommend this movie if you're a pre-teen and even then I don't think it would be all that scary to them...overall rating 2/10
